Vigil: Vamporum Animaturi

    (Millennium, 1994)
™ and ©1994 Arvin Loudermilk and Mike Iverson

Vamporum Animaturi means to have been animated by a vampire, which is exactly what happened to Grace. Grace was a cop whose blood became infected by the vampire “virus.” Now she too has fangs, fears the daylight, and drinks blood (albeit from a mug). Despite all that, she hasn’t given up hope of being cured of her affliction—and she hasn’t stopped hunting vampires.

Her boyfriend, Greg Tonell, is a movie star turned fugitive, having taken the blame for someone Grace had killed. The pair fled to Cancun, Mexico, home of a vampire known as Kukulkán and the Feathered Serpent Cult. According to legend, Kukulkán held the power to end the curse of vampirism. It was a desperate hope, but one that Grace and Greg could not afford to ignore. For as the Vamporum Animaturi virus bonds more fully with Grace’s nervous system, she become more and more like the demonic vampires she hunts.
