The first anthology comic edited by Bill Griffiths and Art Spiegelman, it was very much a dry run for the highly regarded Arcade and remains criminally overlooked. Griffiths contributes his usual incisive dissections of culture and society, but it’s Spiegelman who particularly shines with the autobiographical “Prisoner on Hell Planet” in #1 and the cubist “Ace Hole, Midget Detective” in #2. Strips by Joe Schenkman, Jay Kinney and Rory Hayes amongst others only serve to make this an even more impressive title. ~DAR
