Jason Asala’s saga of Edgar Allan Poe follows the famous writer of dark tales of terror on a personal quest. While still recovering from the death of his young wife, Poe is visited by an angel who tells him he may yet be reunited with his wife, but only if he defeats twelve earthly demons. Numerous friends and acquaintances join him on this mission as he is haunted by dreams of his lost Lenore.

Normally published as a black-and-white book, the special gives a look at Poe’s world through muted earth tones that are a good match for the style of the storytelling. It also offers the opportunity to see other artists such as Rick Geary and Joseph Linsner lend their work to this unique character’s story.
