Funny Stuff

™ and © DC Comics

Though best known for practically every other genre of comics it published, DC did have a few funny animal titles aimed at very young kids. Funny Stuff, along with The Fox and the Crow, later issues of Leading Comics, Comics Cavalcade, and Peter Porkchops, featured loony Warner Brothers-style animal capers throughout the mid-1940s and 1950s. Funny Stuff offered up a veritable cornucopia of the animal kingdom, including the stars, The Dodo and the Frog, with backup from Blabber Mouse, J. Rufus Lion, Blackie Bear, and Bernard the Brave (a hound dog). Hard to imagine any kid passing up Uncle Scrooge or Animal Comics to grab a copy of Funny Stuff, but someone must have bought it because it ran over 80 issues before changing to Dodo and the Frog for the last year or so.
