With the departure of CrossGen and the rights to The Path being tied up, the industry was ripe for a new samurai tale. So who better to provide one than Path creator Ron Marz? He broke exciting ground in that first series and he’s already done it again in this first issue. As a small band of Japanese samurai prepare for the coming Chinese onslaught that is sure to mean their death, one spends his last hours with the love of his life and vows to her that nothing will stand between them in Heaven or on Earth. When the onslaught comes, all the samurai are killed with the exception of that hero, who, while searching for his love, learns that the Chinese raiders have kidnapped her. Since the kidnappers left hours before, he hurries to catch up with vengeance and has his vow to drive him. The action moves quickly in this first issue of five, readying readers for the sprawling adventure to come. The Luke Ross art is breathtaking in its detail and realism.
