In the far future animals are being used to grow replacement parts for humans. Sheep produce bone marrow and cats grow spinal tissue. When Ellis Sheperd reported sheep that appeared to have learned a method of diffusing the electric current that confined them, an attempt was made on his life. Now he is a disembodied “rider,” his consciousness paired with that of telepathic intelligence agent, Anna Elysian, who is his “mount.” Together they have come to ORC (Organic Ranching Corporation) to investigate his claims.

The news of sheep with raised intelligence alarmed someone who wanted that information suppressed because the truth of ORC’s operations could demoralize society. Writer Elaine Lee (Vamps, Starstruck) weaves an intriguing science fiction-detective story in this 6-issues series from DC’s science fiction imprint, Helix.
