Britain’s Davenport Askew & Co. published 31 issues of this pulp serial comic from 1960 to 1963, each book collecting strips reprinted from Fiction House. The format allowed the publisher to skirt laws banning the import of US comics to British soil.

A typical issue offered variations of pulp action. “Wambi the Jungle Boy” helps his communally—-—minded animal friends teach a lesson to a local native tribe, which wants to hoard all the food in a prolific oasis. “Captain Terry Thunder” is an intelligence agent out to break up a white slavery ring. “Tabu” has the wizard of the jungle enduring a Job-like test by competing good and evil spirits using a downed plane, a woman in peril, her lover and a native tribe as pawns. And “Tiger Girl” wields a mean whip as her tiger friend and faithful companion try to protect a native tribe from being tricked out of their ivory.
