Dracula (Stoker’s…)

Dracula has long been one of fiction’s most memorable and controversial figures. In Dracula #1 (of 4), Roy Thomas and Dick Giordano have undertaken a monumental task. Thirty years ago, the duo started serializing the Bram Stoker novel for Marvel’s Dracula Lives! magazine. Sadly, the project was never finished—until now. And, the wait was worth it.

The hallmark of a great adaptation is whether or not it captures the spirit—both literary and psychological, of the original novel. Thomas has captured the spirit of the classic horror novel, and the art of Giordano, now finally finished, is stunning! Giordano fills the pages with his characteristic quality, and his horrific visual shorthand is impressive. The first issue gives us the first four chapters, and already, I can hardly wait for the rest.
