Batman: Turning Points
(DC, 2001)
™ and © DC Comics
This series looks at pivotal moments in the lives of Batman and James Gordon, Gotham Police Commissioner and one of Batman’s staunchest supporters. It concentrates on the great tragedies that have shaped both men over the years, such as the brutal crippling of Gordon’s daughter (a.k.a. Batgirl/Oracle) and the death of Jason Todd, the second Robin. Often, these “turning points” in their lives might have led them in vastly different directions, even causing them to abandon their role as heroes. The extent of despair they have faced over the years might even have driven lesser men to suicide. But both men have been forged into better and stronger heroes by the anguish in their lives, usually emerging not only victorious but also rededicated to their battle against crime. Often, it was their enduring alliance and increasing friendship that made the difference in those trying times.
