Urban legends are those incredible stories of modern life which sound outrageous, but which the storyteller will swear “happened to a friend of a friend of mine.”

This occasionally graphic two-issue mini-series from Dark Horse Comics covers many of the most popular legends in comic form, including “The Babysitter and the Psycho Caller” wherein a babysitter gets a series of obscene phone calls. She calls the authorities, who trace the calls and tell her to immediately get out of the house—the calls were coming from a psychopath calling from the upstairs bedroom! Another favorite is “Wrong Place at the Right Time” about a woman who needed to use a bathroom, but the only one available was in a funeral parlor. Afterward, she signed her name in the guest registry, and later received the deceased’s inheritance as she was the only one who came to the funeral. These tales and others were later done up in Paradox Press’ The Big Book of Urban Legends.
