Some of the most incredible stories take place in time of war. This comic tells three such stories, beginning with the tale of how a cavalryman named Von Richtofen became Germany’s greatest flying ace—eventually claiming 80 kills before being mortally wounded. Even then, he managed to land his Fokker in a perfect three-point landing before dying. Next comes the story of Sub E-11, which pulled off an amazing feat of seamanship to strike at the heart of the Turkish fleet in the battle of Gallipoli. Finally, it relates the story of the “Lost Battalion” which held off a vastly superior German force for three days while cut off in the Argonnes.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not True War Stories #1 was a precursor to the first ongoing “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” series. This one-shot was immediately followed by Ripley’s Believe It or Not #4 when it switched into the ongoing series.
