Mantra: Spear of Destiny
(Malibu, 1995)
™ and ©1995 Malibu Comics Entertainment, Inc.
Mantra is really a centuries-old warrior named Lukasz whose current incarnation resulted in him being trapped in the body of a woman, Eden Blake. To free himself, Mantra sought out the Spear of Destiny, an awesomely powerful artifact which was said to have been used by a Roman soldier to stab Jesus as he was dying on the cross. Its magic might have been enough for Mantra to gain a new body, but others wanted it for their own reasons.
Mantra tried to steal the spear from a local museum display, but she was foiled—not by museum security—but by a rival group of Ultras, called the Herronvolk, who somehow neutralized her powers and made off with the spear. The next day, Mantra returned to work at Aladdin in her identity as Eden Blake, where she was given a new assignment. Her superiors—who had no idea that Eden was really Mantra—sent her on an undercover mission to recover the spear for them!
