The term “hack and slash” originates from the bloody “splatter” films of the late 70s and early 80s, and this terror title certainly has its share of grisly moments. Following in the “Bad Girl” sub-genre with Vampirella and Lady Death, Hack/Slash centers on a woman named Cassie Hack, the daughter of “The Lunch Lady,” a particularly nasty Slasher. Together with her partner Vlad, they track down and slaughter Slashers, no matter what they’ve shape-shifted into, all over the world. The two end up in Eminence, Indiana, which is plagued by a zombie killer and his army of undead pets. Hack/Slash is fast-paced, high-styled horror that recalls the Blade movies in its look and execution.
