Kite Fun Book
(Dell, 1954-1956)
™ and © Dell Publishing Co.
This comic book series was given away at local power and light companies across the country for over 30 years, each year featuring a popular comic book or TV show character such as Bugs Bunny, Secret Squirrel, or the Pink Panther telling children how to build and fly kites and also safe kite flying rules such as: “Don’t fly a kite in the rain,” and, “Never put metal or tinsel in your kite.” Some editions featured Reddy Kilowatt, the electricity mascot, who also starred in his own comic book series. The most sought-after issue is the Donald Duck one from 1954 by Carl Barks.
