RQW
(Don’t Eat Any Bugs, 2002)
™ and © Don’t Eat Any Bugs Productions
The continuing adventures of Raymond Q. Wonderful is a series for all ages. Loaded with references to old TV shows and an almost one per issue tip of the hat to the golden skits of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, RQW has one of the most interesting cast of characters to appear in black-and-white comics in the past few years. It begins when Ray is dropped off at his uncle’s detective shop and the adventures have never stopped since.
Among the best characters are Figdet, his cousin with an obsession for organization and Melleville, a penguin with a taste for the finer things of life and who is easily distracted by food. Each issue ends with a cliffhanger ending that is usually rather silly, but segues into the next issue with flair and grace that leaves the reader wanting more.
