Silver Age

    (DC, 2000)
™ and ©2000 DC Comics

Hearkening back to the days of the great big 80-Page Giants of the 1960s, DC released an 80-page special to round out their Silver Age crossover event. In it, the intergalactic villain Agamemno, at one time the ruler of the entire universe, faces off against the mighty Justice League of America, along with many of the great, forgotten heroes of the Silver Age, and a handful of mysterious new heroes. In the final climactic tale, “S.O.S. to Nowhere,” writer Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, JLA) and artist Eduardo Barreto (New Teen Titans) deliver a lovely valentine to that bygone era. The original Justice League, aided by Robby Reed, the main character from Dial H for Hero, put an end to Agamemno’s bid for universal domination. Also included in this issue are two “never before seen” featurettes from DC’s vaults, including a Batman story drawn by long-time Superman artist Wayne Boring, and a Jimmy Olsen story. Writer Waid rounds out the book with an “imaginary tale” starring a young Wonder Woman.
