In the late Sixties a fireball struck the town of Penderson, Illinois, granting fantastic powers to the “Specials”—113 children who were in utero at the time of impact. They grew up and became many things; teachers, police, artists, heroes—and villains.

Thus begins the story of the Rising Stars, one of the best and most imaginative super-hero stories ever told. Visitations collects several hard-to-find peripheral stories in the Rising Stars saga, including Rising Stars #0, Preview and Prelude. Most of these tales fill gaps in the childhood of the Specials, explaining how the government manipulated the children and their parents into keeping the kids confined in a special camp to study them. These stories are important addendums to the Rising Stars legend, and this one-shot gathers them all in one place for easy reading.
