No doubt spurred on by the release of the big-budget Godzilla movie, this 1998 one-shot reprints the Godzilla special color special from 1992.

In that story, Godzilla had risen from the sea and he prepared to attack the tiny island of Kiryokushima. Naval gunships were powerless to stop the rampaging monster, but on the almost medieval island, the villagers had found a protector in the form of a giant statue that guarded the temple. The statue was actually the petrified body of an Oni (demon) that had been stopped in spirit battle eight hundred years earlier by a wise monk. Now, as disaster looms, this ancient warrior would rise again to save the islanders.
