In these deluxe-sized comics, Topps adapted key episodes from the first season of the X-Files. “Deep Throat” introduces the informant who exposes Agent Mulder to the government conspiracy that has prevented solving so many of the X-Files. The case in point involves a test pilot who had apparently gone crazy after flying some sort of experimental aircraft. The trail led Agents Scully and Mulder to an Air Force base in southwest Idaho where it seems the military was involved in the testing of alien aircraft. For a brief moment, Mulder penetrated the base and saw the craft with his own eyes before the whole thing was covered up. Nevertheless, it was some of the first concrete proof he experienced that not only had aliens landed on Earth…but that they had been here for some time. What’s more, it became clear that a secret faction of the government was working with them to whatever mysterious ends the aliens had in mind.
