This four-issue mini-series is set in the same alternate universe occupied by the Tigers of Terra. Here, the Axis powers were the victors in World War II, and the Nazis had created a dazzling variety of aircraft which helped pave the way for their victory. Creator Ted Nomura was a longtime fan of World War II stories, but as a Japanese-American, he had a hard time relating to the parade of war stories in which the Japanese were the “bad guys.” He thus turned to science-fiction to create a reality full of neat planes (expertly drawn by Nomura and Ben Dunn), but piloted by members of “the other side.”
