Flight is a collection of twenty-two wildly disparate short stories, all unified by the concept of flight; whether it be a flying whale, an airline trip to visit relatives in India, or a penguin trying to regain what evolution has taken from him. There's a wide variety of themes, genres and illustration styles here—the playful "Copper" stories follow a boy, his talking dog, and their matter-of-fact efforts to get into the sky. “Paper and String” is a personal story of reconnecting with old memories told through ink art and collage, while “The Bowl” is a wordless, unsettling tale of how no good deed goes unpunished by the gods. All the art is full color, which is somewhat unusual for an anthology of this size, and there is an afterward by Scott McCloud, author of Understanding Comics.
