Mad House (Red Circle)
(Red Circle, 1974-1982)
™ and ©1974 Red Circle Productions, Inc.
After nearly 100 issues as Madhouse Glads and Madhouse Ma-ad, Madhouse switched formats to sophisticated mystery-supernatural stories and changed publishing imprints to Red Circle, which Archie Publications used for its ventures outside the realm of teen humor. Featuring the work of powerhouse talents like Gray Morrow, Bruce Jones, Frank Thorne and others, Madhouse upheld a high standard of quality and compared favorably to similar titles from Charlton, Atlas and DC. After several issues in this vein, Madhouse changed back to tried and true humor and satire, featuring Sabrina (the teen-age witch) and other Archie staples.
