Captain America/Nick Fury: The Otherworld War

    (Marvel, 2001)
™ and ©2001 Marvel Characters, Inc.

An untold tale of these two classic American heroes, “The Otherworld War” puts Captain America and his sidekick Bucky, along with Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos, at the heart of a Nazi plot to steal the all-powerful mystical artifact the Amulet of Agamotto (familiar to readers of Dr. Strange). Caught in a vortex created by the medallion, the villainous Red Skull, Cap and the others are sucked into the dread domain of Dormammu! Now it is up to Cap and Fury to retrieve the Amulet, escape Dormammu’s nightmare creatures, capture the Red Skull and get back to Earth. The story ties some great Marvel history together, even giving a peek into the origins of Dr. Strange’s mystical assistant Clea. Illustrated by Leonardo Manco (Doom: The Emperor Returns) the book is gritty and stylish, with just the right mix of nostalgia for Marvel’s Silver Age war comics.
