The Ghost Rider

In the Old West of the 1870s, school teacher Carter Slade was ambushed by desperados and left for dead. He was discovered by a friendly Indian tribe, who bestowed him with gifts to help him bring his attackers to justice: a bolt of white, glow-in-the-dark material made with the dust of a phosphorescent meteorite, and a white stallion named Banshee. Armed with these and a pair of six-guns, Slade rides by night to strike fear in the heart of evildoers as the Ghost Rider.

Created by longtime Marvel hand Dick Ayers, the Ghost Rider bears resemblance to a similarly-named character from the 1950s, published by Magazine Enterprises. The Marvel western Ghost Rider was renamed Night Rider in the 1970s to avoid confusion with the blazing-skulled, motorcycle-riding Ghost Rider of the present day.
