According to Jay Faerber, writer of this creator-owned series, Noble Causes is “the Kennedys with superpowers.”

Serving as an introductory one-shot that leads into the ongoing series, First Impressions consists of a 15-page lead story that chronicles the Noble’s present day adventures, and an 8-page backup story that revisits critical events in the family’s history.

Utilizing common fictional archetypes, the Noble family boasts the classic pulp hero/inventor patriarch, an elemental sorceress matriarch, the flighty, wind powered daughter, and the brash, quick-tempered speedster son.

The series focuses not on the usual pyrotechnics and fight scenes of traditional super-hero comics, but on the interpersonal relationships within the family and the skeletons that their closets contain. Faerber accomplishes this feat by introducing Liz Donnelly, a normal woman who accepts the marriage proposal of Race Noble, to be the perspective of the common man in an uncommon world.
