Grendel Tales: Devils and Deaths

In Devils and Deaths, Darko Macan and artist Edvin Biukovic take over the reins of the Grendel world. Devils and Deaths is set against a violent rivalry of two clans of Grendels, the warrior-caste “protectors” of a postapocalyptic world. The Karatani clan has been leaving scorched earth in their path, and has even revived the use of radiation weapons. Drago, a Grendel infected by such radiation, made it his last mission to tell his general of the Karatani’s treachery before radiation sickness claimed him. It seems, however, that the dying Grendel has one more mission ahead of him—stopping a werewolf-like monster that has slain both townspeople and the Grendels sent to kill him.

This series also included a backup story, “Devil Quest,” by Grendel creator Matt Wagner, about the search for Grendel Prime. The backup also ran through Grendel Tales: Devil’s Hammer.
