Marvel Chillers

Marvel Chillers was a rather undistinguished (and short-lived) horror title. The highlight of its run was undoubtedly its first issue, where it introduced Modred the Mystic. Modred had been a powerful sorcerer from the time of King Arthur. Bold beyond wisdom, he dared to cast a spell out of the timeless book of evil, the Darkhold. That spell brought disaster, and Merlin the magician placed Modred’s seemingly lifeless body safely in a crypt, knowing that he would once again rise to walk the earth.

That time came eleven centuries later when two adventurers came upon the crypt, disturbing Modred’s mystical sleep. Modred has been wandering in the realm of the supernatural ever since, sometimes on the side of good—but just as often pursuing his own designs.
