Patsy and Hedy

Patsy Walker and her rival/friend Hedy Wolfe are the stars of this girls’ series. Running throughout the fifties and sixties, it featured the two in a more-or-less endless catfight, disagreeing on virtually everything. Nevertheless, the two are really friends deep down.

One of the more unusual features of this series was the non-stop outfit and hairdo changes that all its characters seemed to go through. This came from the title’s practice of letting readers submit their own ideas for dresses and hair styles, giving the readers credit when they were used (e.g. “Patsy’s a Park Avenue pinup in her perky suit by: Inez Colon, N.Y.C., N.Y.”).

When her carefree teen days were over, Patsy Walker would one day become the super-heroine Hellcat, one of the Defenders.
