It begins with the entire horizon of the planet Windhölme in flames. Slavers have attacked and killed millions with ruthless efficiency. Everyone over the age of seventeen was killed, as were any who resisted them. In the end, all that remained were a few thousand children, who were herded aboard the alien slavers’ vessel.

One of the survivors, a boy named Kip, dared to fight against his captors, but was cruelly beaten down by the heavily armored slavers. Taken before the head slaver, the boy was told that he would soon be getting very special attention…

Then, in the midst of space, Star-Lord appeared. He took on the slavers single-handedly, beating them easily. But for Kip at least, freeing the prisoners wasn’t enough. He set off across the galaxy with Star-Lord to seek his revenge on the people who had sent the slavers to destroy his world.
