JLA: Primeval

    (DC, 1999)
™ and ©1999 DC Comics

Jerome Cox has spent his entire life in constant pain, suffering from an extreme allergy to modern life. His body is constantly tortured by everything from manufactured products to the very air he breathes and water he drinks. But through the study of various arcane mysteries, Jerome, now called Disciple, has allied himself with evil Chaos Demons. With their power at his disposal, Disciple begins an ambitious plan to revert the entire globe to its primordial state of millions of years ago. The resultant planet-wide disasters soon involve the Justice League. Unfortunately, the Leaguers themselves are also reverting to their prehistoric forms, many of them already succumbing to the bestial savagery of their ancient ancestors.

Only Wonder Woman retains her intelligence and awareness of the situation. But since her body has dissolved back into the clay from which it was formed, she is little more than a disembodied ghost.
