Harvey Comics Library
(Harvey, 1952)
™ and © Harvey Comic Publications
Harvey Comics Library only lasted for two issues, and by issue #2, it had already become a standard Dick Tracy comic. But it’s issue #1 that is now considered a classic of all comic book genres for its inclusion of “Rex Morgan, MD presents Teen-Age Dope Slaves!,” an infamous drug propaganda story that was intrinsically linked to Dr. Frederic Wertham’s Seduction of the Innocent. This issue has since become notorious because of Wertham’s work as well as Harvey’s later reputation for more family friendly fare such as Casper and Richie Rich.
