DC Silver Age Classics Showcase
(DC, 1992)
™ and © DC Comics
Publishers reprint issues for two reasons; sometimes it’s a valiant attempt to provide readers cost-effective ways for obtaining important issues or it’s a blatant attempt at separating a reader from his money. Fortunately, DC opted for the former scenario with background material as an added benefit. The original Showcase title reintroduced popular All-American Comic characters such as Flash and Green Lantern into the Detective (DC) Comic universe with subtle twists. Each character had a three issue run and was subsequently issued its own title. Historically, the first appearance of the revised Flash in Showcase No. 4 initiated the Silver Age of Comics. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Arrow were the only super-heroes to survive the 1940s and it was only natural to have them form the original Justice League of America.
