This excellent one-shot from writer Ben Raab (Beast Boy, Legend of the Hawkman) and artist Brent Anderson (Astro City, KaZar the Savage) sheds some light on the past and the present of Gen13’s resident weather-witch, Sarah Rainmaker. When P.O.W. William Greywind returned to his tribe, he found that his lover—who believed him to be dead—had given birth to a child that was not his—specifically, Sarah Rainmaker. Turning his back on his people, Greywind vowed revenge, and now it’s up to Sarah and her fellow Gen-actives—Fairchild, Freefall, Grunge, and Burnout—to save her people from Greywind’s curse.

Sure, there’s lots of action here, but at its heart, Gen13: Medicine Song is an excellent character piece that sees one of the team’s most popular members confronting her darkest fears.
