Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat became legendary as a video game in the arcades, both for its high-tech kung fu fighting animations and for its grisly “finishing scenes” where the winning player could literally tear apart his hapless opponent. Hugely popular, it was only a matter of time before the characters from Mortal Kombat was adapted into comic book form. In 1994,Malibu did just that in this six-issue mini-series, subtitled “Blood & Thunder.”

Here we find the world’s greatest warriors invited to a deadly duel-to-the-death in Hong Kong. Fifty in total were called, including American film star Johnny Cage, who wants to prove his battle skills are not just Hollywood fiction; Liu Kang, a noble warrior from the Order of Light; Sonya Blade, a blonde American Special Forces operative; Kano, a fighter from the evil Black Dragon organization, and more. All will battle to the death for the honor of fighting Goro, the multi-armed reigning champion.
