Superman: Lois Lane

DC’s summer 1998 Girlfrenzy one-shots cast the spotlight on female characters and female creators. Barbara Kesel and Amanda Conner took charge of one of the comics’ oldest continuing characters, Superman’s girlfriend (now wife), Lois Lane. Here, intrepid reporter Lois finds herself in the middle of a mystery in the great white north involving a mad scientist, an international conspiracy, and some genetically altered polar bears. Lois takes charge with her wits and a wetsuit to get to the bottom of things. In an amusing reversal of the traditional pattern, it is the Man of Steel who shows up only for a brief romantic cameo.
