The Amazing Spider-Man: Soul of the Hunter
(Marvel, 1992)
™ and ©1992 Marvel Characters, Inc.
Kraven the Hunter was one of Spider-Man’s most memorable foes— and the wall-crawler discovers that to still be true even after the Hunter’s suicide. While helping a grieving friend mourn a lost relative, Peter Parker finds himself tormented by memories of his final encounter with Kraven, and just possibly haunted by Kraven’s own anguished soul. It may be within Spider-Man’s power to bring peace to both the Hunter’s spirit and his own, but his bitterness toward his old enemy, and a very understandable fear, threatens to prevent him from doing so. Ultimately, even death can’t stop Spider-Man from battling Kraven one final time.
Written by J. M. DeMatteis, who has scripted some of Spider-Man’s more emotional tales, and drawn by Mike Zeck, this one-shot sequel to “Kraven’s Last Hunt” is a creepy, emotional, and undeniably powerful story.
