Spider-Man: The Parker Years
(Marvel, 1995)
™ and © Marvel Characters, Inc.
In the early 1990s it was revealed that the Spider-Man who’d been entertaining readers since an obscure storyline from late 1975 was actually a clone, jettisoning nearly twenty years of continuity. In this one-shot, Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, reflects upon his crime-fighting career and wonders if his discovery of being a clone has rendered it meaningless. Highlights include battles with Venom, Carnage, and Kraven. Since intensely negative fan reaction forced Marvel to reverse the outcome of “The Clone Saga”—Parker was never a clone—The Parker Years really has no relevance to Spider-Man continuity other being an odd footnote, a marketing gimmick that backfired miserably.
