War comics held on long after their heyday. Some had high profile stars like Sgt. Rock and Sgt. Fury to act as a catalyst for the story. Others were anthology titles featuring the “everyman soldier.” Attack, which existed in several incarnations, was one of these.

Rather than glorify the idea of war, the stories in Attack portrayed the deadly situations and grim circumstances that were part of the loyal soldier’s duty. Locales were as divergent as the Congo, on a rescue mission for the U.N., to Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
