X-Men Vs. Dracula
(Marvel, 1993)
™ and ©1993 Marvel Entertainment Group
X-Men Vs. Dracula kicks off a trilogy of one-shot titles pitting Dracula against a variety of Marvel super-heroes. This title was followed by Spider-Man Vs. Dracula, then by Silver Surfer Vs. Dracula.
The X-Men title is reprinted from Uncanny X-Men Annual #6. In it, Dracula gains control of old enemy Rachel Van Helsing, and through her, the X-Men’s Storm. Although this violated a pledge he made to Storm in their previous encounter in Uncanny X-Men #159, he felt that his current situation demanded it. Dracula was seeking control of an ancient book containing the Montesi Formula. This was a magical spell so powerful that it could single-handedly destroy every vampire on earth. To retrieve it, it would need a human operative, preferably one with the advanced thieving skills of Storm. Dracula soon learns, however, that going after Storm means taking on her friends—the Uncanny X-Men.
