The Spider
(Eclipse, 1991)
™ and ©1991 Argosy Communications, Inc.
The Spider was one of the more notable pulp heroes of the thirties and forties. In the pulp magazine and the Saturday Matinee, this avenger brought terror to criminals everywhere, with a ferocity that was almost unheard of at the time. Indeed the Spider was something of a terrorist for justice, whose eye-for-an-eye style made him an enemy of police and criminals alike.
This three-part series of graphic novels brings the Spider into the current day. He is essentially unchanged by the time shift, remaining a millionaire by day and spirit of vengeance by night. Even his household staff, including Indian servant Ram Singh, has remained intact. Nevertheless, even in a new age virtually filled with bloodthirsty vigilantes, the Spider is still apart from the rest.
