The Cisco Kid: Hell’s Gates
(Moonstone, 2005)
™ and © Moonstone
Jerry DeCaire’s artwork reminds me of the great Alex Toth’s at first glance and in the return of O. Henry’s tragic western anti-hero, Hell’s Gates does not disappoint, either in the art or the story departments. A series of adventures leads Cisco Kid to a child slavery ring and it’s up to Cisco to destroy it through a series of non-stop action and violence. For fans of Rick O’Shay, the John Severin-edited version of Two-Fisted Tales, or even Two-Gun Kid or Ringo Kid, everyone who is a fan of the western genre should pick this up.
