Series continued from appearances in Four Color Comics

After three issues in Dell’s Four Color Comics, the popular cartoon star Daffy Duck got his own series in 1951. Daffy is part of the Warner Bros. stable that included Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, and other Loony ’Toons. Part of the credit for the over 30-year success of this series is attributable to the simple fact that Daffy is hard to pin down as a character. Unlike so many other funny animals, Daffy is not a one-note concept (e.g. “mouse with super-powers,” or “lazy squirrel.”) Instead, his comic appeal lies mostly in his generally hyperactive personality, as well as the distinctive voice talents that brought him to life on the silver screen. Along with pals Porky Pig and Yosemite Sam, the series also included strips by little-known Warner Brothers cartoons such as Suzanne (a little tyke with a grown-up attitude).
