G.I.Joe: Arashikage Showdown
(Devil’s Due, 2005)
™ and © 2005 Hasbro, Inc.
All the G.I. Joes you really care about, i.e., the ninjas, have themselves a conundrum: a mystical scroll—no, scratch that, it’s a jewel… or maybe the scroll is a map to a jewel—anyway, one of those arcane artifacts that must never fall into the wrong hands has done just that. Since it belongs to the Arashikage ninjitsu clan, the surviving members must track it down and reclaim it. Awesome battles ensue, delivered in a manga art style that fits the Joes, or at least their martial artists snugly. It’s a lot of fun, but kind of hard to buy into the ending, which is standard for these types of adventure, especially the ones that hope to have continuing installments. It could use a little more justification than slighting the world out of a more wonderful existence.
— Brendan McGinley
