Cardcaptor Sakura
(Tokyopop, 2000-2005)
™ and © 1998 CLAMP
Reprints from Cardcaptor Sakura Comic series; Graphic Novel; B&W
This book starts the second major story arc of the Cardcaptor series, probably one of the most beloved series in America in the last five years or so.
In the first arc, the young girl Sakura managed to capture all the magic cards that would make her the true heir to Reed Clow, the sorcerer who created them. With this arc, none other than Clow himself comes to start teaching her how to master her new powers, although she doesn’t know it.
Like the best of the art collective CLAMP’s work, Sakura combines strong adventure, urbane wit, and good life lessons for younger readers. The most important one this time is Clow’s intention of making Sakura learn of her own inner strength and how it can help all those who will have to rely on her.
While this title may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s hard to deny the unusually high level of quality infused throughout its pages.
