The adventures of the Silver Age Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) are a high point of DC’s output in the 1960s. This handsome edition reprints stories from Green Lantern (Vol. 2) #6-13 in full color, on slick coated paper, bound between hardcovers to occupy a place of pride in a serious collector’s library. These tales are loved by so many due to the masterful writing of John Broome, who showed respect for the readers by delivering top-drawer science fiction concepts, lively plots and humorous characterization (at least by DC’s standards). Gil Kane’s clean, elegant artwork (inked by Joe Giella and Murphy Anderson) complements Broome’s stories perfectly, as characters float gracefully across pages ornamented with detailed, stylized backgrounds. Stories reprinted here include the first few appearances of Green Lantern’s arch nemesis Sinestro, GL’s first team-up with The Flash, and the first “Solar Protector” stories set in the 58th century.
