Superman and Batman: World’s Funnest

    (DC, 2000)
™ and ©2000 DC Comics

Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk, magical imps from the 5th Dimension, have always been more annoying than dangerous. But if they really cut loose, could even the World’s Finest heroes stop them?

In this “Elseworlds” story, their childish rivalry escalates when they accidentally kill Batman. Grief-stricken at the loss of his idol, Bat-Mite lashes out, killing Superman, too. Soon, the feuding maniacs have slaughtered all of DC’s heroes and destroyed the entire universe. An inter-dimensional blood bath ensues, showcasing the many interpretations of the DC Universe, from the Golden Age worlds of the Justice Society and Shazam, to the grim futures of the Dark Knight and Kingdom Come. Eventually, every possible alternate universe, parallel world, and divergent timeline, including our “real” world, is obliterated.

Written by Evan Dorkin, of Milk & Cheese fame, and illustrated by over twenty artists including Mike Allred, Frank Miller, and Alex Ross.
