The Shadow and Doc Savage
(Dark Horse, 1995)
™ and ©1995 Advance Magazine Publishers, Inc. and The Condé Nast Publications, Inc.
In this story entitled “The Case of the Shrieking Skeletons,” zombie skeletons have made their way to New York while chasing a beautiful young woman. The woman, Bernie Reinstein, is the daughter of a scientist who created a potion that can turn men into monsters. Needless to say, everybody wants it, including the Nazis. Bernie seeks out Doc Savage, a friend of her father’s, and begs for his help, which he agrees to give. The zombies, under control of the Nazis, are being hunted by the Shadow. The two heroes inevitably meet and team-up in this bizarre story of war and the supernatural.
This mini-series marks the first time that these two legendary pulp-fiction characters have been included in their crossover title. The creative team behind both issues is composed of Steve Vance, Stan Manoukian, and Vince Roucher. The series also featured the art of Dave Stevens (Rocketeer) on the covers.
