The DC Comics Encyclopedia

When Alex Ross does the wraparound cover for your book, you know it has to be good. Phil Jimenez, and the staff at DC have added yet another “must have” to the comics collectors’ book shelf. The DC Comics Encyclopedia is remarkably complete. With access to the archives, they have dug deep, and mined gold!

With encyclopedias, the temptations are to only highlight the most popular and well-known characters and information, to overwrite those entries, and to ignore the lesser known. But, Jimenez has resisted those ideas. Consider the following entries: Alias the Spider, Bibbo, the Captain Marvel family, Slam Bradley, Captain Compass, Congorilla, Golden Gladiator, and Hop Harrigan. Fairly insignificant in the DC universe, yet they are all here.

Artwise, DC has included an incredible array of talent, and provided appropriate illustrations. With art directly from the original comics by the Golden Age greats to art by today’s best known illustrators, DC’s library is full of Gold, and this is just a taste!
