Brave Old World
(Vertigo, 2000)
™ and © 2000 DC Comics, Inc.
Now that’s a Y2K glitch. Worried that the impending Year 2000 computer bug, coupled with a mysterious convergence of the planets, could mean serious repercussions for humanity—for example, drawing the entire world back in time—a team of computer scientists in Ithaca, New York work feverishly to prevent disaster. Unfortunately, their efforts are not only unsuccessful, they may even be responsible for the results: the entire world is thrust back into the year 1900. Not only must they deal with the insanity of that as their new present, but horrific assassins from a century later have come back in time to kill them for what they’ve caused. Can things be fixed? Can the future be saved?
Grim, dark, and downright scary, this mini-series from DC’s Vertigo imprint can accurately be described as intense. Written by William Messner-Loebs and drawn by Guy Davis.
