This painted one-shot by creator David Mack uses a surreal imagery and poetic form of scripting to weave a tale haunting tale of the impact that lost loved ones can leave on the living, and the theory that they watch over and guide our lives.

The story begins with Kabuki hovering between life and death, her life fading between heartbeats. In what appears to be her final moments, she is gifted with a visit from the spirit of her mother. In the course of the visit, Kabuki comes to terms with her doubts and her fears, guided by the strength and wisdom of the mother she lost.
